When you contact SW Plumbing & Heating we can arrange to survey your home to ensure that the gas fire can be installed correctly and safely.

The first thing to be done is remove the existing existing gas fire and make the gas pipe safe, the flue must be checked for leakage and blockage. The gas cowl will be checked to see if it’s the right type and an explanation of which gas fires are available for the fire place which you have, once you have chosen a Gas fire we will be able to tell you if you need any ventilation bricks installing .We can install flue less plasma fires, remote control fires, inset fires and off the wall fires.

Domestic Gas Appliance Service

SW Plumbing & Heating can service your Gas appliances, whether it is a gas central heating boiler, gas fire or a gas hob / Cooker.

What is a service?

A gas appliance service should be carried out in 12 month intervals and will consist of a full check of a gas appliance Our engineers will take the appliance apart were needed to inspect and clean it. The engineer will assess the physical condition of the appliance, installation pipework, air vents and any flues for deterioration. They will carry out performance tests and take any necessary remedial action.

Appliances should be serviced regularly in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Servicing your gas appliances regularly will make sure they are safe to use. It will also maintain your appliances efficiency and performance.

Gas Safety Check

What is a Gas Safety check?

A Gas safety check involves a Gas Safe registered engineer inspecting your gas appliances. They will check all the appliance are working correctly and will check the following five areas:

Gas appliances are on the right setting and burning correctly with the correct operating pressure
Check for gas tightness
Harmful gases are being removed from the appliance safely to the air outside
That any ventilation routes are clear and working properly
All the safety devices are working

Landlord Certificates

At SW Plumbing & Heating, our Gas Safe registered engineers are qualified in enabling you to fulfil the legal obligations of the Landlord Certificate.

Checks and investigations include those in respect of-Gas tightness/ Standing and working pressure if test points are available/ Burner pressure and gas rate against manufacturer’s data plate/ Satisfactory provision of necessary ventilation/ Testing flue flow – removing products of production/Flame failure device checks/Physical stability: effectiveness of supporting brackets where appropriate/ Investigate evidence of unsafe operation and report accordingly...A tightness test is added to the above in respect of a Landlord’s Safety Record inspection
