 Profesional Power Fushing

SW Plumbing & Heating specialise in power flushing heating systems using high powered flushing equipment with a single pass filtration unit and built in 65 degree heater which used in conjunction with quality chemicals can bring your heating system back to life!

Did you know that the main reason for a combination boiler to malfunction is due to dirt and debris inside of your heating system.

Symptoms of a system in need of power flushing:

  • Radiator cold spots.
  • Noisy boiler.
  • It takes ages for the system to warm up.
  • Radiators need regular bleeding.
  • Dirty water when drained at the drain points of the heating system.
  • Boiler Pump failures.
  • Excessive boiler breakdowns.

Boilers which have not been treated with system inhibitor (protector) or not been treated with the right dose over the years can cause radiators and pipes to become clogged with sludge and rust. This never ending cycle reduces the water flow in the heating system and causes no end of breakdowns and expensive repairs. Power flushing removes this debris and helps restore the efficiency of your heating system. This process is done in conjunction with adding system protector which stops the reforming of sludge build-up which in turn maintains reliability.

The Power flushing services provided by SW Plumbing & Heating can help increase the life of your boiler, improve heating efficiency and reduce your energy bills and minimise the amount of boiler repair costs.

Fernox Central Heating Filter

Why do I need a Fernox filter?

Basic principle

All central heating systems have water inside a metal radiator, if the water inside the central heating has not been treated with a chemical called corrosion inhibiter, over the months corrosion starts to take place and sludge is made which lies on the insides of the bottom of your radiators. After a while your radiators will start to use more energy to get warm and sludge will start to enter the boiler and clog up diverter valves pumps and heat exchangers in turn making your boiler unreliable and expensive to run plus the added costs of expensive repair bills.

Anyone with Heat serve boiler cover, British gas boiler cover etc, will surely not be covered for sludge build up problems, they will firstly have to pay a premium rate to have their system power flushed by the firm that covers them  i.e. British Gas £800 before they continue to repair your boiler.

What can I do about it?

At this point you have 3 choices. Pending on how bad things have got you can  either have a power flush or have a filter installed  or the best option by far is to have both, but which ever choice you go with after the work is completed it is vital that  corrosion inhibiter is added to the water to protect from the same process happening again.

So, if your central heating has had no system corrosion inhibiter added in the past you can guarantee the sludge process has started. If the system is really bad for example a really old system which as corroded inside, then a power flush and filter would be recommended with corrosion inhibiter also added.
If you have had a recent heating system installed and no system inhibiter was added and is showing slight sighs of corrosion then a full drain down and the installation of a fernox filter and then add corrosion inhibitor will probably suffice.

Please note that all cleansing of system pipework and radiators and the installation of a fernox filter and the addition of corrosion inhibiter come as standard with SW Plumbing & Heating’s central heating systems and boiler replacements.
